Friendly invasion of thousands for Armed Forces Day
The first Armed Forces Day to be hosted by Newtownards saw a friendly invasion of thousands for a celebration of all things military.
Among those getting into the army spirit in the Co Down town was little Jorja McKeown, who donned a soldier's helmet as she inspected her troops.
As well as a parade, the public got its first view of a 'combined capability operation' involving air and ground troops and an air display delighted the crowds in the skies above Ards' airfield.
Ards Mayor Philip Smith described Armed Forces Day as a "people's pageant".
