Funeral for Tyrone GAA fan who drowned in Liffey

The funeral of a Tyrone GAA fan who drowned in the River Liffey is due to take place today.

Aidan Mullan was walking along the riverside when it is believed he lost his footing and fell into the water during the early hours of last Sunday morning.

The 35-year-old was originally from Tattyreagh outside Omagh, but had recently been living in the Dromore area.

His funeral is due to take place at 11am this morning at St Davog's Church in Dromore followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

At the weekend gardai made an appeal for information about the events leading to his death.

"A number of witnesses have come forward, but gardai would like anyone with further information to come forward," a spokesman said.

Mr Mullan, who worked in the construction industry, was a life-long GAA fan and member of Tattyreagh St Patrick's club. He had played for all levels and was a member of its 1988 league-winning team.
