Gig promoter McGarrity ordered to close firm
A Northern Ireland concert promoter has spoken of his sadness after his business was wound up at the High Court.
Country and western impresario James McGarrity told how it was impossible for him to keep the operation going in the current economic climate.
An order was made for the winding up of JW Promotions Ltd following a petition by River Run Records in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr McGarrity said his Ballycastle-based business brought acts such as Kenny Rogers, The Proclaimers, The Chieftains, Elkie Brooks and Roy ‘Chubby' Brown to Ireland over the past 10 years.
He conceded: “In the current climate I wasn't able to keep the company going.
“I had some successful years but in the last few years I found it hard to make money.”
