A 14-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital following a crash between a car and a bike in Co Down.

The teenager sustained head and leg injuries in the collision at Culcavy, near Hillsborough.

The incident at Aghnatrisk Road happened at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

The girl is being treated in the Royal Victoria hospital in Belfast.

PSNI Inspector Jim McGrillen said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident involving the cycle and the Audi car, or saw them on the road beforehand.

"The incident occurred about a mile from the Culcavy Road/Harry's Road junction."
