Golf academy for Lurgan gets green light
Northern Ireland's recent success on the greens around the world has prompted a new zeal for golf and in Lurgan they are hailing planners who approved a new golf academy at the town's golf club.
Against the backdrop of the success of Darren Clarke, Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy, Lurgan's golf club applied for an academy and training area.
The plans were given the go ahead at a recent meeting of Craigavon Borough Council.
Lurgan Golf Club celebrates its coup in a year that sees the Irish Open coming to Northern Ireland, in Portrush in June and hopes are high that the sporting flavour of the year will bring many more budding players through its doors.
