Grosvenor Grammar in Belfast can tell the world it has Northern Ireland's top singers after winning the live final of the School Choir of the Year.

And Pond Park Primary School from Lisburn has clinched the junior title in the BBC Radio Ulster contest, broadcast live from the Ulster Hall yesterday.

Grosvenor's pupils performed I Can Tell The World and Nearer My God To Thee, while Pond Park performed Colours of the Wind and Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines.

In the junior category St Conor's Primary School from Omagh was runner-up and Sullivan Upper from Holywood was runner-up in the senior category.

The awards were made by guest judge Yvie Burnett, a mezzo soprano, well known for her work as a vocal coach with The Voice.

Presented by John Toal and Kerry McLean, 64 schools have battled over the past six weeks to win a place in the final.

Twelve schools took part in the live final - with six competing respectively in the junior category and senior categories.
