A cross-community event exploring the growing use of the Irish language in east Belfast will take place this evening in Co Down (8pm).

The East Belfast Mission's Irish language development officer Linda Ervine will take part in a Mind Your Language event in Castlewellan, organised by Glór Uachtar Tíre.

Linda helps organise 10 Irish language classes through the Turas project at the Skainos Centre on the Newtownards Road.

There will be an opportunity for a Q&A session at tonight's event, at The Lodge, on the Dublin Road in Castlewellan, before the Mary Ryan Blues Group performs.

Glór Uachtar Tíre received support for the event from Ultach Trust, Down District Council and Foras na Gaeilge. Admission is £5 at the door.
