Gun charge man bailed
A district judge said yesterday he was deeply concerned that a 25-year-old man was able to illegally obtain a revolver and ammunition after windows in his house were smashed two years ago.
Judge Barney McElholm made the comment when William Andrew Gibson, from Glenshane Road in Claudy, appeared at Londonderry Magistrate's Court charged with possessing the revolver along with ammunition.
Mr McElholm said the arsenal seemed to suggest that the defendant had “consorted with some sinister people”.
He released the defendant on his own bail of £500 and ordered him to observe a 10pm to 7am curfew.
