Gun seized during police house raid
Police have seized a suspected handgun linked to serious crime in a series of searches across north and west Belfast.
The weapon was recovered at one of the properties raided and has been removed for forensic tests to be carried out.
The PSNI said no arrests were made.
Detective Inspector Pete Mullan said: "We are very pleased to have taken this weapon out of circulation and will continue in the days and weeks ahead to progress with our inquiries into criminal activity and to keep people safe."
Sources suggested that the operation had targeted a breakaway republican faction that has been blamed for a number of shootings in Belfast.
