Gunmen hunted after house shooting

A man has escaped injury after being shot at his home in west Belfast.

Two gunmen forced their way into the house at Avoca Close in Turf Lodge just after 9.30am on Thursday and fired a shot at the occupant.

They made off in the direction of Upper Springfield Road.

One of the assailants is described as being aged about 40, and was wearing a baseball cap, a cream coat and dark jeans. It is believed he was carrying a brown bag containing a shotgun.

The second male is described as being of heavy build and was wearing dark jeans, a dark blue T-shirt and has dark shaved hair.

A spokeswoman for the PSNI has appealed for any witnesses to contact detectives at Grosvenor Road.
