Harte dad ‘detached’ from Michaela case
Mickey Harte last night told how he is attempting to put the pre-trial proceedings of his daughter's alleged murderers to the back of his mind as he focuses on family life.
The father of Michaela McAreavey said he is “detached” from this week's legal events taking place in Mauritius where his daughter was murdered while on honeymoon.
The Tyrone football manager attended the solemn novena celebrations in Limerick yesterday where he addressed a packed gathering on his experiences of bereavement at Corpus Christi church in Moyross.
Mr Harte said family life at home came before the initial court case regarding his daughter's murder.
“I'm detached from that. To me, that is another issue that is happening somewhere else. We are dealing with the issues, right with us at home in our own family. That will focus all our attention and we wouldn't be distracted by anything like that,” he said.
Mr Harte said he was not following any coverage of the trial, unless it hits him in the face.
