A Community Festival Fund of £57,000 has been launched by Lisburn and Castlereagh Council to help groups deliver community events in the area.

Alderman Paul Porter, chairman of the council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee, said the money is of “great benefit” to organisations and residents. “The grants scheme aims to assist constituted groups working within the Council area to organise their own locally-based arts and cultural festivals that sustain and develop our rich culture and strong communities,” he said.

The Council will host two public information workshops to provide applicant organisations with information relating to the completion of applications.

These will take place at 7pm on May 12 at Island Arts Centre, and 7pm on May 14 at Bradford Court.

Applicants can download forms and guidelines at:www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/community
