Health Minister Edwin Poots opens nursing conference
Health Minister Edwin Poots has opened a major conference on nursing and midwifery in Belfast.
Speaking at the first annual nursing and midwifery postgraduate research conference at Queen's University Belfast, Mr Poots highlighted the work of the university's School of Nursing and Midwifery.
"Its graduates serve the health needs of the community here and people around the globe in hospitals and home settings," he said.
The event was funded by the International and Postgraduate Student Centre at Queen's and recognised the contribution of postgraduate nursing students.
The minister added: "There is an increasing need for highly trained practitioners. The School of Nursing and Midwifery has been at the forefront of preparing specialist practitioners."
