Heroin smuggler jailed
A man who swallowed 22 packages of heroin— worth around £21,700— in an attempt to smuggle the class A drug into Belfast International Airport, has been jailed for three years.
Manuel Gomes Da Silva (42), from Guinea Bissau in West Africa, pleaded guilty to drug smuggling at Antrim Crown Court yesterday.
He was challenged by Border Force officers after arriving from Faro, Portugal on October 1, 2011.
He taken to Antrim Area Hospital, and an X-ray revealed a number of packages concealed internally.
