A suspicious object which sparked a security alert in east Belfast has been declared a hoax.

The object was discovered in Templemore Avenue just before lunch time on Thursday.

Templemore Avenue was closed and homes evacuated while Army bomb experts attended the scene.

Residents in Westbourne Street were also forced to leave their homes.
