Homeless man stole 'so he could buy food'
A homeless man stole £47 worth of washing powder tablets from a shop to sell them to buy food, a court has been told.
Ryan Gerard McGlinchey (28) from Limavady admitted stealing the tablets on January 4 from a Spar in Ballykelly.
His solicitor Pearse MacDermott told District Judge Barney McElholm that McGlinchey lived a nomadic lifestyle and had accumulated “an horrendous record for offences of dishonesty”.
The judge imposed a six-month jail term, suspended for three years.
