Homes evacuated amid pipe bomb find

Police have launched an investigation after a pipe bomb was discovered in Carryduff.

The viable device was found at the door of flats at Doon Park in the Co Down town shortly before 9.30pm on Saturday night.

A number of homes in the area were evacuated and an army bomb disposal team was tasked.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said no motive had been established.

Detectives at Castlereagh have appealed for information.
