Homes evacuated in security alert

Published 08/03/2013

A number of residents were evacuated from their homes last night as Army bomb experts examined a suspicious object.

It was found close to a church on the Shore Road, Newtownabbey.

The road was closed between the Doagh Road roundabout and M5 roundabout while the Army carried out their work.

The Valley Leisure Centre was opened for those forced from their homes during the security alert. It is the second security alert at a church in the area since last month.
