A teenage girl has claimed she also spotted a rat in Caffe Nero's Donegall Square West shop just two weeks ago.

Katie McDowell from Dundonald said she was waiting for her bus at the end of July when she spotted a rat run through the store.

It comes as footage emerged of two rats behind the counter of the Caffe Nero shop.

The footage was filmed late at night by a couple who spotted the pests while returning from a night out.

It was filmed on Tuesday, July 7 at around 1.30am by the couple, who were walking through the city trying to get a taxi home after having been out for dinner and drinks.

As they passed they spotted something moving in the shop.

Yesterday the Dundonald teen told the Belfast Telegraph she also spotted a rat there recently.

She said: "It was nearly two weeks ago. It was around July 25, it was a Saturday.

"It was quite late, I was waiting on the last bus home at around 10.40pm.

"I was looking in the store in a daydream and I didn't know if it was a mouse or rat or some kind of animal.

"From the very back I saw something run up to the front and then it went behind the counter where they prepare all the food and drinks.

"It was really shocking to see."

Caffe Nero is a European coffee house brand with more than 600 stores globally.
