Ian Paisley hale and hearty as wife takes centre stage
Ian Paisley looked hale and hearty during a rare public appearance at the weekend.
The former First Minister (87) has had a number of health problems in recent years, but seemed relaxed as he enjoyed his wife's inaugural civic dinner held on Saturday in Lisburn.
Lord Bannside and Baroness Paisley were greeted by Lisburn mayor Margaret Tollerton at the event in the Lagan Valley Island Centre.
When the politician was admitted to the Ulster Hospital back in February 2012, there were doubts he would recover.
Having been fitted with a pacemaker, his time in intensive care was thought to be down to a heart condition, and family gathered at his bedside.
But Mr Paisley bounced back, and even drove himself home.
Seven years previously he was treated for an undisclosed illness, after which he said he had "walked in death's shadow".
