Photos of two women straddling two men outside a Belfast nightclub have gone viral on the internet.
The images are believed to have been taken last weekend outside El Divino, located on the banks of the River Lagan, which calls itself "Belfast's newest and most fashionable nightclub".
It is not clear whether the couples, all thought to be in their 20s, are pictured having sex, as the second image circulated online appears to show both men with their trousers pulled up.
The photo was quickly shared on social media and picked up by newspapers across the UK.
It comes a short time after an incident in the notorious holiday resort of Magaluf involving a teenager from Co Armagh, which also went viral on the internet.
A police investigation was launched after the 18-year-old was filmed performing sex acts on 24 men in a nightclub.
The footage emerged of her performing the sex acts allegedly in exchange for a holiday – although the 'holiday' turned out to be a cocktail of the same name.
East Belfast Alliance MP Naomi Long said she was concerned that young people were leaving themselves "extremely vulnerable" often when "alcohol has been consumed to excess".
She said: "Apart from the risk to their own safety and sexual health, such images going viral on the internet can have significant ramifications for people beyond the immediate commentary."
She added: "However, I find the exclusive focus on the women and girls in such situations quite unjust.
"It perpetuates stereotypes which are damaging to women and to men, rather than encouraging a culture of respect – for self and for others – in all our young people, regardless of gender."
SDLP councillor for the area Pat McCarthy said the images demonstrated a lack of respect for themselves and for other people. "I don't think anyone should be engaging in that activity in a public street beside residential homes," he said.
Fellow SDLP councillor Kate Mullan said: "People allow themselves to be caught in a comprising situation without any regards as to how it will impact on themselves, their futures and their families."
El Divino declined to comment.
