Inquest date set for hospital death
An inquest into the death of a man who fell from a hospital window in Belfast will start in October.
It will take three weeks and 38 witnesses are expected to attend or make statements, a preliminary hearing in the city was told.
An independent psychiatric report is being finalised after Christopher Boyle, 44, plunged from the Mater Hospital just before Christmas in 2008. He suffered severe brain and lung injuries.
Medical negligence proceedings are to be taken by his family against Belfast Health Trust, lawyer for his family Fiona Sterritt has confirmed.
Statements have been sought from patients who occupied the same ward as Mr Boyle, who lived at a flat on the Cliftonville Road, Belfast. A CD from the Health and Safety Executive has been obtained.
Summonses will be issued to witnesses ahead of the October 9 start date of the inquest, coroner Suzanne Anderson said.
