A personal diary of Samantha Lewthwaite, dubbed the White Widow, has revealed a fascinating insight into the mind of the world's most wanted female terror suspect.
Lewthwaite, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the Nairobi shopping mall massacre in Kenya, was married to 7/7 London suicide bomber Jermaine Lindsay.
The diary which was found in a raid of the terror suspect's home, tells of the love she had for her husband who blew himself up on the London Tube, killing over 50 people.
Lewthwaite, who spent her childhood in Banbridge, Co Down, refers to Lindsay as her "beloved", recalling with pride when her husband asked their two young children what they wanted to be when they were older.
The journal offers an extraordinary view into the influence both she and her husband had on their children as she writes their response to his question as: "Both had many answers but both agreed to one of wanting to be a Mujahid." A Mujahid is an Islamic military fighter.
Within the journal entries, Lewthwaite expressed both her commitment to her faith and her desire to be a good Muslim.
She also expressed how blessed she believes she is to have been married to a shaheed (martyr), referring to her deceased husband Jermaine Lindsay.
The White Widow's journal also includes what appears to be the start of a book she was writing entitled I Want To Be A Mujahid.
It lists two sets of questions split in to chapters which she was going to ask interviewees.
Under the handwritten title of the book, Lewthwaite writes: "If sincere to this claim, then know what a Mujahid is and live like this" and "those who give up their desires, what they love most for Allah's sake".
The diary extracts come as part of a further discovery by Sky News of a Kenyan intelligence report which suggests that Lewthwaite is a key figure in the al Shabaab terror network.
The 35-page document has identified the White Widow as a "logistician" within a six-person terror cell which the Kenyans believe was co-ordinated by Abdulkadir Mohamed Abdulkadir, under the alias of Ikrima.
Authorities believe that Ikrima, who was the target of a US Navy Seals mission last weekend that was ordered to "capture or kill" him, has been elevated to management within al Shabaab.
Intelligence sources believe that Lewthwaite is now married to the leader of the cell co-ordinated by Ikrima, a man called Fahmi Jamal Salim.
The document gives a detailed breakdown on the terror group's extensive reach across Africa with recruits working in a range of countries such as Uganda and Mali and as far as Yemen and Pakistan.
It also indicates clear warnings issued over eight months ago that a "Mumbai-style attack" was being planned on the Kenyan shopping mall.
The damning document tells how the group were plotting several attacks targeting UN offices in Nairobi, parliament buildings and a series of assassinations on senior politicians within Kenya.
According to Kenyan intelligence, Lewthwaite was living in an exclusive villa with her children in the Shanzu area of Mombasa when planning the attacks.
It was during a raid on this villa that police uncovered the excerpts of Lewthwaite's diary along with a stash of ammunition and a laptop. Lewthwaite was not there.
