The spring leaves are unfurling, a heatwave's on the way - and a green-fingered army is on the way to Antrim Castle Gardens.

Thousands of people are expected to converge on Antrim for the 2016 Allianz Garden Show Ireland, starting today.

This year looks like the biggest show yet, with more than 20 show gardens to inspire visitors and plenty of opportunities to meet expert exhibitors who are happy to answer questions.

Star of the show is green-fingered broadcaster Monty Don who will be giving talks on his bestselling book Fork to Fork as well as sharing his wealth of knowledge during his walkabout at the show.

The event will also be celebrating the NI Year of Food & Drink 2016 in style with a Food NI Pavilion which will be filled with exceptional and unusual local producers creating tasty dishes for visitors to enjoy.

The 2016 Allianz Garden Show Ireland will run until May 8 at Antrim Castle Gardens and is open daily from 10am-6pm with parking in town centre car parks and at Junction One.
