Jail blunder man sought for murder
A man freed mistakenly from prison last year is now wanted by police leading a murder hunt.
Devidas Paliutis was being held on charges including rape when he was released by mistake from Maghaberry prison in Northern Ireland last October.
Detectives investigating the murder of a man from Ukraine, killed in a shooting in the Co Down town of Kilkeel, want to question him over the weekend attack.
Dmytro Grytsunov, 29, received a fatal chest wound when shots were fired in the Rooney Park area on Saturday night in what is believed to have been a row between two groups of foreign nationals. Police later found a firearm and ammunition which they said was believed to be linked to the murder.
Officers are also tracking a man identified by police as Ernestas Rudeckis over the killing.
The public has been urged by police not to approach the men, but to pass any information on their whereabouts to detectives.
Police have made a series of arrests over the shooting. A 32-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man are currently in custody. Another woman of 39 has been released unconditionally. Police said three men aged 31, 36 and 26 had been released on police bail.
Officers from the Serious Crime Branch said the murdered man's next of kin had been informed.
They appealed for anyone with information on the shooting to come forward.
It is believed a dispute between the two groups started when a house was attacked in Haywood Way on Saturday. The trouble then moved to Rooney Park, where at least two shots were fired in the street. The attackers fled the scene.
