Jailed for drunken attack on barman

By George Jackson

A MAN who admitted dislocating a barman's shoulder after he was refused drink in a city centre bar, has been jailed for seven months at the Magistrate's Court in Londonderry.

Barry McCrory (34) of no fixed abode, also admitted breaking several windows in Tracey's Bar in Waterloo Street during the same incident on May 27 of last year.

District Judge Barney McElholm was told that McCrory smashed the windows after he'd been ejected from the premises by the barman for being loud and drunk.

Following his arrest McCrory became aggressive towards police officers, spat at them and later urinated in a police cell.

He was so drunk that he could not be interviewed until the following day.

Describing McCrory's record as atrocious, Mr McElholm imposed the seven-month jail sentence and also ordered McCrory not to approach within 50 metres of Tracey's Bar for the next five years.
