Jamie Dornan joins battle to ban puppy farms
Co Down actor Jamie Dornan has teamed up with other screen stars in a bid to ban cruel puppy farms in the Republic.
The Fifty Shades Of Grey star is among the celebrities calling on Enda Kenny's government to launch a crackdown on what they have branded a "trade in canine misery".
The stars - including actor Colin Farrell, X Factor's Sharon Osbourne and model Rosanna Davison - said tens of thousands of pups were bred in cruel and inhumane conditions in the Republic.
Belfast-born Eurovision star Linda Martin told the Irish Mail on Sunday that Ireland was known throughout the world as "the puppy farm capital of Europe".
She hoped the celebrity pressure would convince the Irish Government to do something about what she called a "shameful" industry.
"It's appalling that we have to shame them into doing something," the singer said.
