Jeffrey Donaldson: IRA must say sorry
Victims of the Troubles need to hear an apology from republicans before the peace process can really move forward, according to Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson.
The DUP member said there is still “a lot of pain and hurt out there” among IRA murder victims.
Mr Donaldson was speaking after senior Sinn Fein figures, including Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness revealed during the party’s Ard Fheis that they were currently in talks with a “very significant group” of Protestants and unionists about a “process of national reconciliation”.
It comes amid news that senior DUP figure Ian McCrea declined to take part in a photocall with Sinn Fein’s Michelle Gildernew during a youth justice event in Omagh.
