Published 23/07/2015

A man has been arrested following two overnight burglaries where jewellery and a bike were stolen.

The items were taken from properties in the Oakland Grove and Ashburn of Ballynahinch.

A 37-year-old man was arrested following a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Trish Bardon said: “The arrested male was detained by officers in Norglen Crescent in west Belfast this morning following a report of a suspicious vehicle. At this time we believe that a number of items located in the car may be connected to the earlier burglaries.

"Our enquiries into both burglaries are ongoing and we are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information. Detectives can be contacted at the offices of Downpatrick Reactive and Organised Crime on 101.”

"Alternatively information about crime can be passed anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
