Jim Gilchrist killer is charged with assaults
A man convicted of the manslaughter of musician Jim Gilchrist in 2005 has appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court charged with assault and assaulting police.
Daryl Quigley (27), of Benevenagh Drive, Limavady, was charged with assaulting a 15-year-old girl and assaulting police on March 7 and 8.
A police officer told the court the initial incident occurred when the girl intervened in a row between Quigley and his partner and the defendant had grabbed the girl by the throat.
The assault on police was a continuation of the incident.
Defence solicitor Don Mahoney said Quigley was not disputing the girl's or the police's account of events.
Quigley was released on his own bail of £750 and will appear in court again on April 2.
