Judge calls for US-style tagging
A District judge said it would be “nice” if electronic tags used in the US which can detect if defendants have taken drugs or alcohol were given to the PSNI.
Barney McElholm was speaking at Londonderry Magistrates’ Court in the case of Thomas Stokes from Old Fort, Strathfoyle. He is charged with murdering John Mongan in 2008.
The court heard that police found Stokes had been drinking alcohol in breach of bail conditions.
He was released on bail on his ‘last chance’.
