Justice Minister David Ford visits offenders' workshop
Justice Minister David Ford has visited a joinery and furniture refurbishment workshop which provides work for offenders sentenced to community service orders.
Voluntary Services Lisburn is a charitable organisation which aims to improve job opportunities for those on community service orders through training and skills development in restoration and refurbishment of second-hand furniture.
Offenders work alongside skilled project workers in the workshop which has received funding support from the Department of Justice through the Probation Board and the Lisburn Policing Service Community Partnership.
Speaking during his visit, Mr Ford said: "We know that opportunities like these provide real, tangible support for offenders and can contribute to a reduction in offending."
