Kayakers rescued off north coast
Twelve kayakers have been rescued off the Causeway Coast after getting into difficulties at the weekend.
The group, consisting mostly of teenagers, had become exhausted with some suffering sea sickness just off Portballintrae on Saturday afternoon.
Portrush RNLI lifeboats were launched after the Belfast Coastguard received a number of 999 calls asking for help.
Eleven members of the group were transferred to the all-weather Portrush lifeboat while the remaining kayaker was brought back to Portballintrae Harbour on the in-shore lifeboat.
No-one in the group required medical attention.
Steve Carson, Watch Manager at Belfast Coastguard, said those planning to take part in watersports should notify the Coastguard, in case of emergency.
