A Co Down boutique owner has romped home with the big fashion prize from the Curragh races in one of her own designs.

Kirsty Farrell from Newry was first past the post for an all-white lace ensemble from the outlet that she co-owns with her mum, Rosie's Closet, with a headpiece from Millinery By Mairead.

The 20-year-old said that she was "really delighted" to have won the prize of a weekend stay in Kildare's Kilashee House hotel and a €2,000 voucher.

She caught the eye of celebrity judge Yvonne Connolly who joined actress Joanna Lumley as they chose her as the winner of the Killashee Irish Tatler Style Icons at Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival yesterday.

The Absolutely Fabulous star was invited over after having one of the day's races named after her.
