One of Belfast’s best known pubs is to close at the end of the week.
Auntie Annie’s, based on Dublin Road for 15 years, was once part of the CDC Leisure chain.
It has been under the control of an administrator since June 2010 and yesterday the decision to close was made public after no buyers came forward.
The rest of the CDC chain was sold in 2011 to Belfast-based Shine Productions, in partnership with the Dublin-based firm MCD.
Shine Productions does not own or run Auntie Annie’s but a number of its events were due to be staged there and will be relocated.
Last night a spokesman for Shine Productions said: “Original tickets will, of course, be valid.”
Fans of the bar took to its official Facebook page to share their thoughts on the closure news.
One woman said: “Sad times! Had my first smooch with my fella outside this bar lol.”
Another added: “Spent so many happy Friday nights there. Will miss all the staff.”
