Many roads in Northern Ireland remain closed due to heavy snow:

Antrim Council area:


C27 Lylehill Road C19, Ballyhill Road, Islandreagh Road, Crosskennan Road, Grange Road, Rickamore Road, Rickamore Road Upper and roads in Templepatrick area.


Police are advising motorists that the Ballyclare Road, Glengormley is blocked due to a broken down bus.  Motorists are advised to seek an alternative route if possible.

Ballymena & Larne Council area:


B94 Rathkeel Road is closed. In Larne A36 Shane's Hill Road is closed as are many minor rural to south and west of the town. Many roads are blocked by snow drifts in excess of 2 metres around the Larne and Glens of Antrim area.


Ballymoney & Moyle Council area:

A2 Cushendall Road Ballycastle, A43 Glenariff Road Cushendall, B14 Ballyeamon Road Cushendall and many minor rural routes are closed.


Coleraine & Limavady Council area:


    * Drumsurn Rd Limavady, closed due to a fallen tree and power lines

    * A37 Mount Road, Coleraine, blocked by a lorry

    * Broad Rd, Limavady to Coleraine - REOPENED


Derry Council area:


Minor roads at Park Village Co. Londonderry blocked by snow drifts up to 4ft deep.


    * C507 Highmoor Road, Eglinton closed due to snow.

    * U1101 Baloughry Hill Road, Killea closed - fallen tree.


General condition of roads on the unscheduled network are good within the urban area. Passable with care in rural areas but becoming increasingly more difficult on high ground.


Ards Council area:

C263 Belfast Road, Newtownards (Bradshaws Brae) still closed due to fallen tree.

A2  Springvale Road closed at Ballywalter due to fallen tree.

Flooding on A22 Belfast Road, Comber ? road almost impassable.

C187 Tyra Road closed due to flood

C188 Ballycrummy Road closed due to flood


Banbridge & Craigavon Council area:


Killysorrell Road Blackskull closed due to flood

B2 Ballynahinch Road Dromore reopened

B7 Moneyslane to Dromara to Ballynahinch closed due to on-going snow clearance operation


Down Council area:


B180 Bryansford to Hilltown Road closed due to snow. Snow clearance operation planned for Saturday morning

B21 Saintfield to Ballynahinch Road closed due to snow clearance operation

A7 Downpatrick to Saintfield Road passable with care after snow clearance operation


Newry & Mourne Council area:


B180 Bryanstown to Hilltown Road closed due to snow.

B8 Hilltown to Kilcoo Road now passable with care

A25 Castlewellan to Rathfriland Road passable with care

A2 Shore Road Rostrevor closed at Rostrevor due to flood



Belfast Council area


All roads passable with care. No roads closed.



Lisburn & Castlereagh Council area:


Major Roads currently impassable - Knockbracken Road, Low Rd, Hilden Road, A21 Ballynahinch Road, Leatherston Road, Rock Road, Hannastown Road, B38 Belfast Road,  Glen Road, Lisburn, Colinglen Road, Sheepwalk Road, B154 Quarterlands Road, Gornagrough Road, B38 Upperspringfield Road, Pondpark Road,  Mealough Road, Front Road, Drumbo, Ballycroan Road, B178 Hillsborough Road down to one lane

Police are advising motorists to avoid the Pond Park Road, Lisburn from Lady Wallace Park to Mullaghglass Road as it is impassable due to snow.

Newtownabbey & Carrickfergus Council area:


Major Roads currently impassable - Carntall Road, Mossley, Red Brae Carrickfergus, Carnmoney Road.


North Down Council area:


Major Roads currently impassable - Dunlady rd, Ballysallagh Rd, Belmont Rd, Ballymiscaw Rd, Church Rd, Whinney Hill.


Upper Braniel Rd, Gilnahirk Rd and Gransha Rd - NOW RE-OPENED.


Cookstown & Magherafelt Council area:


A6 Glenshane pass open


Dungannon Council area:


Despite rain and sleet Friday afternoon, all roads passable


Fermanagh Council area:


No problems to report.


Omagh Council area:


Virtual continuous acting throughout night-  all scheduled routes passable with care.


Strabane Council area:


All roads on the gritted network are clear of snow Some minor roads on higher ground in the Sperrins may be affected by drifting snow.
