The nephew of Ballymena-born acting superstar Liam Neeson was fighting for his life in hospital last night after a 20ft fall left him with a serious head injury.
Ronan Sexton (31) climbed on top of a telephone kiosk on Brighton Promenade in the early hours of Thursday morning and fell to the ground, it was reported last night.
He was rushed to casualty before being transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, where he is in a critical condition.
Ronan is the youngest son of Neeson's sister Bernadette.
Just five years ago Neeson lost his wife Natasha Richardson after a freak skiing accident. She suffered a serious head injury that led to bleeding in her brain.
In February he said Richardson's death "was never real" and that he still expected her to walk through the door.
Bernadette's partner Harry Shannon told the Daily Mail yesterday that she was in hospital with her son. It was also reported that Mr Sexton was out with friends celebrating a 30th birthday at the time.
A Sussex Police spokesman said last night: "Just after 4am on Sunday June 22, a 31-year-old Worthing man had climbed on to the top of a telephone kiosk outside Brighton Pier when he fell 20ft to the ground, sustaining a serious head injury.
"He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and was later transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital in Haywards Heath where he is currently in a critical condition.
"The man had been enjoying a night out with friends, who were present when he fell, and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
"There is no further police investigation."
Neeson has starred in many acclaimed movies and box office hits, including Steven Spielberg's 1993 Oscar winner Schindler's List, Michael Collins, the Star Wars movies and Taken.
