An online campaign is under way to reunite a one-armed teddy bear left behind at a beauty spot in Co Down with its owner.

Efforts are being made to try to return the cuddly toy to the little boy or girl who will surely be missing him desperately.

He was discovered on Wednesday sitting on a bench at the boat house at the National Trust site of Castle Ward in Co Down.

The 18th century mansion and grounds overlooking Strangford Lough is where the gothic and classical collide, but this week's tragic discovery is the stuff of horror for parents and children.

Mum-of-three Rachel Logue found the lonely bear as she enjoyed a day out with her children.

She handed him into the office at Castle Ward where he awaits his owner and a jubilant return home.

An online message about the pitiful teddy's plight said: "Hoping his owner spots this post and goes to pick him up. He's still there waiting."

Is he yours or can you help this toy story have a happy ending?
