Linfield old boy marries GP on top of Ireland's holiest mountain
A County Down man has married his new bride at the top of Ireland’s holiest mountain, Croagh Patrick.
Firefighter Willie Gordon from Annalong, married his new Co Kildare wife, GP Susanna Gaynor at a height of 2,507ft (764.1m), becoming only the seventh couple to say "I do" in the tiny 107-year-old St Patrick's Oratory at its peak.
After a climb in walking boots and fleeces, the couple did a quick change into suit and traditional white wedding dress while their 50 guests stayed in their waterproofs throughout.
Willie, a former Irish League footballer who played for Bangor, Portadown and Linfield and his new bride are now off to even higher peaks for their honeymoon - the world’s very highest in fact, the Himalayas.
