Lorraine chases up laptop left in back of Belfast taxi

By John Mulgrew

Soapstar and former model Lorraine Chase has made an emotional plea to the public for help after she left her laptop in a black taxi in Belfast.

Chase, best known for playing the character of ex-convict Steph Stokes in the long running soap Emmerdale, left her laptop in a cab after being picked up outside the Crown bar in Belfast city centre on Saturday evening. The former model had completed a week long run of the acclaimed show, Five Blue Haired Ladies Sitting on a Green Park Bench at the Grand Opera House.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph last night the cockney actress burst into tears during an impassioned plea to the public.

According to Chase she had been enjoying a busy night at the Crown bar before leaving in a black taxi parked outside.

"I got a taxi to Holywood where I was staying in a gated area up there and just as the cab went I realised I had left my computer on the seat," she said.

"I immediately rang the bar and there was a lovely chap called Stephen who asked his brother-in-law who's a cabbie to keep an ear out.

"I was very upset and it was very frustrating," she said.

The star flew back to her home city of London yesterday morning but has urged anyone who stumbled across the laptop or the taxi driver who drove her to Holywood to come forward.

"If anyone has it can I please please have it back," she said.
