Lumiere: Derry dazzles as light festival illuminates the city's buildings, streets and bridges
Giants have taken their place along the River Foyle to shine their light on this year's UK City of Culture.
The impressive displays lit up not only the sky – but imaginations and the November night.
The Lumiere Festival in Londonderry kicked off with a surreal spectacle of imposing large-scale light images on the skyline.
Les Voyageurs, or The Travellers, were created by artist Cedric Le Borgne.
Diving and swooping along the Peace Bridge, they welcomed visitors as part of 17 installations.
In human form but with no features, the suspended displays appeared to soar and fly, inviting visitors to glance up and offering a connection between dream and reality.
Over four days, local and international artists, community groups and lighting designers are illuminating the city's walls, buildings and streets.
The beacons of light will shine over the city until Sunday from the Fountain to the Bogside and Cityside to Waterside.
