Major delays on M2 following serious accident

A crash on the M2 at the Dunsilly roundabout caused major delays for motorists on the major route.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision, which police described as "serious".

The crash involved a car and a lorry and happened shortly before 3pm.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and Ambulance Service all attended the scene.

Diversions were put in place close to where the accident happened.

The road was reopened to traffic around 6pm after the incident was cleared.

There were no injuries reported.

A police spokesman commented: "Police in Antrim are advising motorists of delays southbound on the M2 at the Dunsilly roundabout due to a serious two vehicle road traffic collision.

"Diversions are in place and there are no further details at present."

Meanwhile, the Drumagarner Road outside Kilrea in Co Londonderry was closed in both directions yesterday afternoon following a one vehicle collision.

Diversions were put in place but police reopened the road a short time later.

There were no injuries reported.
