Man (23) arrested after car hijacking in Ballymena

A 23-year-old man has been arrested following a car hijacking in Ballymena

It happened in the Galgorm Road area on Friday December 16 at around 8.30pm.

A man was demisting his car when another man approached and said that he was going to take the car.

The vehicle has since been recovered in the Kilbride Gardens area of Antrim.

The 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of several offences including hijacking, theft and driving whilst disqualified.

Inspector Michael Simpson said: “The 23 year old man currently remains in custody assisting us with our enquiries, however I would still appeal to anyone who witnessed this car hijacking to contact Ballymena Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1234 of 16/12/16.”
