Man (26) to stand trial over child rape charge
A 26-year-old man is set to stand trial on a number of sexual offences against a young girl, including rape.
Kieran Morgan, from Mullaghmore Road, Dungannon, Co Tyrone, is facing two counts of raping the girl and one of inciting her to commit an act of gross indecency.
The charges also include eight counts of indecently assaulting the alleged victim.
The offences are alleged to have occurred over a six-month period between April 30 and December 31, 2003. The defendant was a teenager on the dates in question.
Morgan appeared for a committal hearing before Dungannon Magistrates' Court, where a prosecuting lawyer said there was a case to answer.
This was supported by District Judge John Meehan.
The defendant chose not to call witnesses or give evidence on his own behalf during the short hearing.
He was remanded on £200 bail and ordered to appear for arraignment at Dungannon Crown Court sitting on May 2.
