Man, 36, arrested in dissident republican terrorism probe

A 36-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating dissident republican terrorism in Northern Ireland.

The suspect was detained in Newry, Co Down, this morning. A property was also searched as part of the operation.

The man has been taken to Musgrave Street police station in Belfast for questioning.

The arrest was the latest in a number targeting alleged dissident activities in recent days.

Three other men - aged 39, 40 and 47 - remain in police custody while a 35-year-old man arrested in west Belfast on Saturday has been released unconditionally.

The detained 47-year-old man, who was arrested in the Londonderry area on Saturday, was released this afternoon pending a report being sent to the Public Prosecution Service.
