A young man armed with a knife robbed a shop in east Belfast on Sunday morning.

Shortly before 8am, the man entered commercial premises on the Woodstock Road and demanded a female staff member hand over money and cigarettes.

The robber then fled on foot towards the city centre.

The suspect is described as wearing a green balaclava, hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms and brown shoes.

No one was injured during this incident, however the member of staff was left very badly shaken.

Police ask anyone who has any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Street on the non-emergency number 101.
