Man armed with suspected gun robs Larne takeaway

Two members of staff have been left shaken after a man armed with a suspected gun robbed a takeaway in Larne.

It happened in the Upper Cairncastle Road area this afternoon.

At approximately 1.30pm, a man armed with a suspected firearm entered the shop and made off with a sum of cash.

The two staff members were left shaken following the incident but were not injured.

The man is described as being aged in his late teens or early 20s, about 5ft 8inches tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a black scarf over his face, a black hooded top, black jogging bottoms and latex gloves.

Detective Sergeant Crothers said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Larne Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
