A man has been arrested after Mark Lamont, who was attacked in the Coleraine area last month, died in hospital on Tuesday evening.

Mr Lamont, from Captain Street Lower in Coleraine, had been on life support in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, since the September 26 incident.

The 54-year-old was injured outside a house on the Ballycastle Road.

Detectives investigating the incident arrested a 35-year-old man in Newtownards on suspicion of murder.

Detective Sergeant Wallace said he is continuing to appeal for anyone who was on the Ballycastle Road on the morning of September 26 and may have witnessed any form of altercation.
