Man arrested over bomb bid to kill PSNI officers
A 38-year-old man has been arrested in Londonderry by detectives investigating an attempted bomb attack on police officers.
The man was detained at Ballyarnett in the city and questioned on suspicion that he possessed explosives with intent to endanger life.
He was later released but a report will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service.
The sophisticated device was left in an empty house in the Ballyarnett area in October 2014.
A caller phoned the PSNI to report a burglary in progress. Police did not respond because they were unable to authenticate the call. Afterwards calls were made to community organisations claiming a bomb was left at the same address.
The house where the device was left had been vacant for around two months but was in the middle of a cul-de-sac.
