Man arrested over gun possession

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a gun.

He was detained by detectives in Foyle in the early hours of this morning following reports that a man produced a gun to a couple of groups of youths in the Drumleck Gardens area of Derry.

Separately, a man in his 30s reported that two masked men, both armed with guns, ordered him our of his car in the Bloomfield Park area of Belfast at 10.15pm last night.

The PSNI said the man was able to drive off in his car and was not injured.

"It is believed that the two masked men made off in a car," a spokesman said.

CID in Strand Road Police Station have appealed for information in both investigations.
